Here’s how you can reach Wythenshawe Park in Manchester for the Swiftie 5K and 10K Run using public transport, car, bike, and on foot:

1. By Public Transport:

Tram (Metrolink):

  • Wythenshawe Park Tram Stop: This is the closest tram stop, located just outside the park entrance. The stop is on the Manchester Airport Line and connects easily to central Manchester stations like Manchester Victoria, Manchester Piccadilly, and Deansgate-Castlefield. The park entrance is a 2-5 minute walk from the tram stop.

Bus:

Several bus routes serve Wythenshawe Park. The closest stops are along Wythenshawe Road (B5167) and Altrincham Road (A560):

  • Routes 101, 103, 108, 178, and 368 all have stops within a short walk of the park’s entrances.

2. By Car:

Parking:

  • Wythenshawe Park Car Park: There is free on-site parking available within Wythenshawe Park, accessed via Wythenshawe Road (B5167). Parking spaces can fill up quickly during events, so arriving early is recommended.
  • Overflow Parking: Additional parking options may be available along nearby roads and designated overflow areas.

Motorway Access:

  • The park is easily accessible from the M56 motorway (Junction 3 or 4) and the M60 motorway (Junction 5).

Low Emission Zone:

  • Check if your vehicle complies with Manchester's Clean Air Zone regulations if traveling through central areas.

3. By Bike:

Cycle Routes:

  • Wythenshawe Park is accessible via various cycling paths. The Fallowfield Loop and other local cycle paths provide easy routes to the park.

Cycle Parking:

  • There are bike racks available near the park entrances, particularly at the main entrance on Wythenshawe Road.

Bike Hire:

  • Bee Network Bikes: Manchester’s public bike hire service offers docking stations around key locations, though availability near Wythenshawe Park may be limited.

4. On Foot:

  • If you live nearby, walking to Wythenshawe Park is a convenient option. The park has multiple entrances, with the main access points being:
    • Wythenshawe Road (B5167)
    • Altrincham Road (A560)

Baggage

We’ve got you covered with a secure baggage area, where you can safely leave your belongings. To make things easier, we recommend bringing as little as possible. Your baggage tag is conveniently attached to your race number – just tear it off and attach it to your bag. To collect your bag after the race, simply show your race number to the baggage tent staff, and they’ll assist you with finding your items.

Toilets

Wythenshawe Park has two sets of public toilets, though they’re a short walk from the Start/Finish area, so be sure to plan ahead. If you come across a toilet on your way into the park, we recommend making a stop. Additionally, we’ll have portable toilets available within the event village for your convenience.

Refreshments

Stay hydrated! We’ll have water stations on the course at regular intervals and more water waiting for you at the finish line. Along with your well-deserved post-race goodies and medal, we’ll ensure you stay refreshed from start to finish.

During the Race

Our friendly marshals will be positioned around the course to guide and cheer you on, alongside clearly marked km signs and arrows to keep you on track. The 5K & 10K course. Please keep in mind that Wythenshawe Park is a shared space, so you’ll be running alongside spectators and members of the public.

Spectators

Spectators are welcome to explore the park and watch the race from various points.

Important Notes

As the park will be open to the public, please be mindful of pedestrians, cyclists, and dogs sharing the paths with you. We recommend avoiding the use of earphones so you can stay alert to your surroundings and enjoy the atmosphere.
